Axolotl and Rochester RHIO: 50 New York area eldercare agencies join HIE

Axolotl Corp., the nationwide leader in health information exchange (HIE) solutions and services and Rochester RHIO, the regional health information organization connecting medical providers across nine counties in New York today announced that fifty area eldercare agencies are joining the health information exchange. For the first time anywhere, health care providers are now able to view medical and social supports that human service agencies provide senior patients, alongside their clinical information.

Cytochroma reports positive results from Phase I trial for CTAP201 Injection in hemodialysis patients

Cytochroma today announced positive Phase I results for CTAP201 Injection, a product being developed to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism in hemodialysis patients. The study demonstrated that single intravenous doses of 1 and 3 mcg of CTAP201 were safe and well tolerated. It also identified a starting dose of 2 mcg for subsequent pivotal trials intended to establish the product's safety and efficacy in the targeted population.

Pneumococcal vaccine pre-clinical development supported by £0.2 million award from Biomedical Catalyst

ImmBio (Immunobiology Ltd), a biopharmaceutical company developing innovative vaccines against serious infectious diseases, today announced that the UK government-backed Biomedical Catalyst has awarded the company approximately £0.2 million ($0.3 million) to support pre-clinical development of its pneumococcal vaccine, PnuBioVax™, which targets a wide range of strains of the bacteria.

Keyboards harbour nasty bugs

A new study has shown that some nasty bacteria can survive and grow for at least 24 hours on computer keyboards and electronic recordkeeping in hospitals and other health care settings and may be spreading more than just information.
