Researchers at the Scripps Research Institute have made an important discovery that may help to explain the neural mechanism that drives alcohol consumption in cases of addiction.

Controlling high blood pressure in individuals age 80 years and older has become a major national health problem

The study found that almost three fourths of those 80 years and older have hypertension - blood pressure greater than 140 systolic over greater than 90 diastolic. Fewer than 10 percent have "normal" blood pressure levels - less than 120 systolic over less than 80 diastolic.

Celgene International Sàrl announced that data evaluating combination therapy REVLIMID (lenalidomide) and dexamethasone in patients with high-risk smoldering multiple myeloma were presented during the American Society of Hematology's annual meeting in New Orleans, LA. The landmark study demonstrated REVLIMID and dexamethasone prolonged time to progression, including complete responses, with manageable toxicity.
