A team of genetics experts in Southampton is working against the clock to produce the world's first DNA test for the Mexican strain of swine flu.
More than 40,000 student athletes in Arizona have taken advantage of computerized baseline concussion evaluations offered by Mayo Clinic in the program's first year. That amounts to nearly 40 percent of the state's roughly 100,000 high school athletes. Baseline concussion evaluations measure how the brain is working before injury, and are mandatory tests for professional and college athletes.
Biosimilars are not generics and the Biologics Prescribers Collaborative (BPC) applauds the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for recognizing that each biosimilar needs a distinguishable name in its draft guidance issued today. The FDA's draft guidance on nonproprietary naming of biological products proposes distinguishable names, calling for biological products to bear a nonproprietary name that includes an FDA-designated suffix.
For the experiment, Prof Nayernia and his team took bone marrow from male volunteers and isolated the mesenchymal stem cells. These cells have previously been found to grow into other body tissues such as muscle.
