A new mouse model for a genetic cause of obesity has been developed by scientists at the Stanford University School of Medicine and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital.
Open Monoclonal Technology, Inc. (OMT) today announced its new human antibody platform using the first genetically engineered rats expressing a human antibody repertoire. The company, which also created the first targeted knockout rats in 2009, is now cross-breeding the knockout animals with the rats expressing human antibodies to finalize its platform.
Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., will stand in the way of a proposal by Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., to attach a drug reimportation amendment to Dingell's food safety bill, which Dingell said "could derail the whole food safety effort," The Hill reports. "Adding to the charged politics is the widespread assumption that the Obama administration, which has made food safety a priority, may intervene behind the scenes against the amendment.
Researchers at Rhode Island Hospital have discovered how cells communicate with each other during times of cellular injury. The findings shed new light on how the body repairs itself when organs become diseased, through small particles known as microvesicles, and offers hope for tissue regeneration.
