Second hand smoke exposure is associated with psychological distress and risk of future psychiatric illness, according to new UCL research that suggests the harmful affects of passive smoking go beyond physical health.
According to new research from the U.S., it may not just be nicotine which gives cigarettes their power but rather how it enhances other experiences.
Today elected officials and community representatives joined staff from the Mount Sinai Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health to formally open a new clinical center in Monroe, New York. As members of the New York State Department of Health's Occupational Health Clinic Network, the Selikoff Centers are the designated providers for the Lower Hudson Valley and New York City workforces, and leaders in the prevention and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses.
A team of scientists from Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University together with their colleagues developed a method of targeted drug delivery to cancer cells. The discovery is based on the use of mesenchymal stem cells and microcapsules made of polymeric compounds.
In a move more than two years in the making, a National Quality Forum (NQF) endorsement became effective today of the first nationally recognized hospital-based performance measures for quality of care for breast and colorectal cancer.
