UCLA biologists have discovered how head injuries adversely affect individual cells and genes that can lead to serious brain disorders.
JAOtech Ltd. has announced the opening of its U.S. headquarters in Trumbull, Connecticut. The facility serves as JAOtech's sales, marketing and technical support centre for the United States and Canada. JAOtech Corporation, the company's wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, has an installed base of more than 13,000 terminals in North America.
The DNA of a 1st century shrouded man found in a tomb on the edge of the Old City of Jerusalem has revealed the earliest proven case of leprosy. Details of the research will be published December 16 in the PloS ONE Journal.
WHO today published the new edition of its Model List of Essential Medicines which includes ground-breaking new treatments for hepatitis C, a variety of cancers (including breast cancer and leukaemia) and multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (TB), among others. Gentium S.p.A. today announced that the abstract titled, "Defibrotide prevents hepatic VOD and reduces significantly VOD-associated complications in children at high risk: final results of a prospective phase II/III multicentre study," has been awarded the Van Bekkum Award for the best abstract submitted to the physician's program for the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation's (EBMT) 36th Annual Meeting, to be held in Vienna, March 21-24, 2010.
