Australian and Irish researchers have gained previously unachievable insights into how the size of our immune response is controlled, by developing new imaging and computational biology approaches to follow the behaviour of hundreds of cells.
A new study from Belgium indicates that the majority of community-dwelling elderly adults are taking prescription medications inappropriately. The study, which is published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, also found a link between underuse-not taking essential medications-and an increased risk of dying or needing to be hospitalized.

On World No Tobacco Day, the American Thoracic Society, alongside members of the Forum of International Respiratory Societies, calls for renewed efforts to strengthen the implementation of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control in all countries, in order to work towards achieving the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development to ensure a healthy life and promote well-being for all, at all ages.
