Nuvo Research Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company dedicated to building a portfolio of products for the topical treatment of pain today announced that Galderma S.A. (Galderma), a global company dedicated to dermatology has received its first three Pliaglis marketing licenses from E.U. countries.
Scientists at the MedUni Vienna, in collaboration with a working group led by Nancy Hynes at the University of Basel, have discovered a new approach in the treatment of breast cancer: an international team involving the Clinical Institute of Pathology at the MedUni Vienna has been able to demonstrate the activation of a receptor, the Ret protein (Rearranged during transfection), on the surface of breast cancer cells. Increased levels of this protein are associated with a lower likelihood of survival for breast cancer patients.
In 2016, the National Institutes of Health implemented a policy which requires grant applicants to "consider sex as a biological variable" in vertebrate animal and human studies. A new study surveyed NIH study section members in 2016 and 2017 regarding their attitudes toward the policy and found that a majority of respondents thought that it was important to consider SABV in the experimental design and that considering SABV would improve the rigor and reproducibility of NIH-funded preclinical research.
The Black AIDS Institute, with support from Merck, announced the launch of the Black Treatment Advocates Network.
