In partnership with local community health care agencies, three Kaiser Permanente Southern California Medical Centers, opened their doors this morning to perform a total of 67 outpatient surgeries as part of a region-wide Free Surgery Day.
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) today announced that the Company has received a Complete Response letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) for AvodartĀ® (dutasteride) for reducing the risk of prostate cancer in men at increased risk for the disease, defined as those who have had a prior negative biopsy due to clinical concern and have an elevated serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA).
Oxygen Biotherapeutics, Inc. today announced that the first patient has been enrolled in the company's Phase II-b, dose escalation, clinical trial in Switzerland for use of Oxycyte(TM) emulsion in traumatic brain injury (TBI). Oxycyte is the Company's perfluorocarbon (PFC) therapeutic oxygen carrier.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton met Thursday with Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), the new House Budget Committee chair, "to set out her objections to the House Republicans' deficit-cutting plans," the Financial Times reports. Obama administration officials and congressional Democrats argue that Republican's proposed budget cuts "will reduce U.S. influence throughout the world ... and cost lives in Africa and beyond," the newspaper writes in a story outlining the different perspectives over how far budget cuts should go.
Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has initiated a Phase 1 study for ISIS-GSK3Rx and earned a $3 million milestone payment from GlaxoSmithKline.
