A new study in mice has suggests that a couple of glasses of wine may actually "clean" the brain and not only clear the mind at the end of a long day. The study was published in the latest issue of the journal Scientific Reports.
Today, the American Federation of Government Employees and its National VA Council applauded the White House's proposed funding increases for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The White House's proposed fiscal year 2011 budget provides $57 billion in funding for the VA. For more than two decades, AFGE, which represents over 180,000 employees in the VA, has joined veterans' groups in calling for full funding of veterans' services.
CMC Biologics and OncoSynergy have entered into an agreement for process development and GMP manufacture of OS2966 – a novel potential treatment for Ebola. The investigational drug candidate, designed to inhibit a major cellular adhesion receptor (CD29) that is fundamental for progression of aggressive and resistant cancer tumors, was granted orphan drug designation by the U.S. FDA earlier this year in the treatment of glioblastoma.
Veteran television star Andy Griffith appeared in a new commercial for Medicare that promotes health law changes the administration says should help seniors, such as free wellness visits and lower drug costs, U.S. News & World Report writes. "The commercial, launched on the 45th anniversary of Medicare last week, is part of a public education campaign about changes to Medicare benefits.
