Hollis-Eden Pharmaceuticals, Inc., today reported preliminary results of its ongoing Phase I/II clinical trial with Apoptone® (HE3235) for hormone-resistant prostate cancer (also called castrate-resistant prostate cancer or CRPC). Presented at the Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics Conference, which is co-sponsored by the AACR, NCI and EORTC, the poster is titled: "Results of preclinical and clinical Phase I/II open-label dose-ranging trial with HE3235, a synthetic adrenal hormone, in Castrate Resistant Prostate Cancer (CRPC)."
Scientists have now bred bacteria that can create microscopic high energy carbon rings. This scientific breakthrough comes from Caltech scientists who have tweaked the enzymes of these bacteria in ways so that they can provide new molecular structures.
A novel CAR T-cell therapy developed by researchers at UCL and designed to target cancerous tumors, has shown promising early results in children with neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer.
Although most of the world's biodiversity is below ground, surprisingly little is known about how it affects ecosystems or how it will be affected by climate change. A new study demonstrates that soil bacteria and the richness of animal species belowground play a key role in regulating a whole suite of ecosystem functions on Earth. The authors call for far more attention to this overlooked world of worms, bugs and bacteria in the soil.
A study led by scientists at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine and published in Nature Communications proposes chaperone protein Hps70 as an attractive therapeutic target for the treatment of Kennedy's disease—a rare neuromuscular condition—and of castration-resistant prostate cancer.
