Soligenix, Inc., a late-stage biopharmaceutical company, today announced its financial results for 2009.
"It is well known that genes control the nutrient levels in cow's milk" said Richard B. Weinberg, M.D. "But until now, no one has considered how genes might affect human breast milk. This is the first study to demonstrate a genetic effect on human lactation." The results were presented today at Digestive Disease Week 2005 in Chicago, Ill.
More than 50% of individuals with moderate kidney disease have hypertension that is resistant to medications, and those who are black or have a larger waist circumference, diabetes, or a history of heart attacks or strokes are at highest risk, according to a study appearing in an upcoming issue of the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (CJASN).
A study at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center showed that circulating tumor cells, a form of liquid biopsy, was independently associated with melanoma relapse, suggesting CTC assessment may be useful in identifying patients at risk for relapse who could benefit from more aggressive therapy following primary treatment.
Since the Ebola virus outbreak was first reported in March there have been nearly 2,000 cases and over 1,000 deaths in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. This makes it the most serious Ebola epidemic to date.
