In this post in the Center for Global Development's "Global Health Policy" blog, Mead Over, a senior fellow at the center, follows up on a post last week in which he wrote that a panel of senior economists commissioned by the Rush Foundation was to address the question of how to spend an additional, but hypothetical, $10 billion on HIV/AIDS programs in Africa over the next five years.
In September 2009, Business Roundtable issued a report on health care cost trends prepared by Hewitt Associates. Its central finding was that, if present trends continue, the cost to provide an employee with health care will rise from $10,000 to $28,000 over ten years. Cost increases of this magnitude imperil the competitiveness of our companies and the health care coverage of our employees; they must be addressed.
It is easy to tell a medical research story that has a simple and dramatic moment. But disease is often much more complex, and the work to understand it can be painstaking. A vivid example of that is seen in the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Genomics Laboratory, headed by Ludwine Messiaen, Ph.D., professor of genetics. This lab offers clinical genetic testing for a broad array of common and rare genetic disorders.
Hi-Tech Pharmacal Co., Inc. announced today that its branded marketing subsidiary, ECR Pharmaceuticals will promote Urocit®-K 15mEq, potassium citrate extended release tablets to primary care physicians beginning in April, 2010. Hi-Tech has a license agreement with Mission Pharmacal Company, which will promote the product to Urologists.
