Patients with chronic hepatitis C and advanced liver disease who drink three or more cups of coffee per day have a 53% lower risk of liver disease progression than non-coffee drinkers according to a new study led by Neal Freedman, Ph.D., MPH, from the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
Boehringer Ingelheim today announced a preview of the study designs for the pivotal Phase 3 clinical trials evaluating BI 201335, its investigational once-daily oral protease inhibitor, in both treatment-naive and -experienced patients with chronic genotype-1 hepatitis C virus, the most challenging genotype to treat.
However, surgical correction of certain forms of congenital heart disease may not fix the underlying molecular trigger that drives progressive heart failure and sudden death later in life, according to new research from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine.
