Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration permitted marketing of the PicoAMH Elisa diagnostic test as an aid in the determination of a patient's menopausal status.
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. announced that the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia denied a motion filed by Mylan and issued an opinion and order affirming a decision by the FDA under which Teva should receive sole 180-day "first-to-file" exclusivity for generic Celebrex® (celecoxib) 100, 200 and 400 mg capsules.
Sanofi-aventis announced today results of a head-to-head study providing further evidence on the efficacy of once-daily, 24-hour basal insulin Lantus(R) (insulin glargine (rDNA) injection) compared to twice-daily insulin detemir. The study was presented during the 45th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in Vienna.
A novel avian-origin reassortant influenza A (H7N9) virus emerged in China in February 2013, and is associated with severe lower respiratory tract diseases. To date, more than 100 human cases of infection, including at least 20 deaths, have been reported in China.
An international group of researchers from Carnegie Mellon University, Goettingen Medical School in Germany and the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom have received a Human Frontiers Science Program (HFSP) grant to develop molecular probes that will help researchers better understand the "cellular GPS" system that guides neurons to create a properly wired nervous system.
