The New Year means new resolutions and for many Americans those resolutions include efforts to get healthy, lose weight, and hit the gym. According to a study by The University of Scranton, almost half of all New Year's resolutions will be broken by the end of January. Why is it that we can't make the changes we hope to?
Stroke is the third leading cause of death and disability in the United States. More than 87 percent are ischemic strokes, caused by obstruction of one or more cerebral arteries. With limited progress in developing treatments, there is a critical need for neuroprotective agents to effectively treat stroke.
If you don't know how a human cell is supposed to work, it's hard to offer a good explanation when the cell goes haywire - as it does in cancer. That's why a Florida State University College of Medicine researcher has been awarded a $1.2 million grant to explore the role of centrosomes and cilia in cell division and development and their connections to human disease.
A new study appearing in the April issue of The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (JBJS), found that most patients who underwent surgery to repair and rebuild an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear, showed significant improvement in physical function at two years, which continued for at least six years following surgery.
In addition to joining her husband in a White House meeting with mothers, Michelle Obama will do a series of interviews with the nation's most popular African-American radio hosts to encourage people to sign up for coverage through the health law.
