BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a leading global medical technology company, today announced the launch of its next generation wireless rapid diagnostic system for detection of influenza A and B, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and group A strep, with new traceability and secure patient health record documentation features and functionality.
Researchers from the University of Chicago Medicine have received a five-year, $1.8 million grant, from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health to develop a program that could help improve diabetes care for low-income racial and ethnic minority patients.
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft has approved the establishment of twelve new Collaborative Research Centres beginning 1 July 2010. This was decided by the responsible Grants Committee at its spring meeting in Bonn. The new CRCs will initially be funded for four years with a total of 112 million euros (including a 20% programme allowance for indirect project costs).
A new study by researchers at Harvard supports earlier findings by a panel of experts that abortions and miscarriages do not increase a woman's risk of getting breast cancer.
Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine is hosting a conference on mannequins and other simulation technology that increasingly is being used to train doctors and nurses.
