Lawmakers are planning to pay for much of their plans to expand coverage to the uninsured by slowing Medicare spending by as much as $500 billion over 10 years, Long Island Newsday reports. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close before the end of the first quarter of 2010.
