New tool predicts which cancer patients will respond positively to immunotherapy

NJIT biomedical engineer awarded $1.3M grant to develop better ways to help stroke patients

Helping stroke patients regain use of their hands and arms through innovative robotic and virtual reality-based video game therapies is the focal point of NJIT Associate Professor Sergei Adamovich, a biomedical engineer. PharmaMar begins PM184 Phase II trial in advanced breast cancer patients

PharmaMar has announced the start of an open-label multi-centre two-stage Phase II trial with the anti-tumour drug PM184. The trial will be conducted in 10 European clinical centres and will include 106 patients. The trial will focus on patients with hormone-receptor positive, HER2-negative, locally advanced and/or metastatic breast cancer, who have experienced progression following earlier treatment with anthracyclines and taxanes.

Hispanics with alcohol-induced problems - especially male Mexican Americans - have significantly worse health and welfare than those with other ethnic backgrounds. This study examined the influence of gene/environment interaction on alcoholism among Mexican Americans. Researchers have found that interaction between education and a polymorphism of the reward gene contribute to severe alcoholism among Mexican Americans.
