Stressful events during early pregnancy could be detrimental to the reproductive development of male offspring, according to new research.
In analysis that included more than 9 million Department of Defense nonactive and active duty personnel, the rates of both community-onset and hospital-onset methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteremia decreased from 2005 to 2010, while the proportion of community-onset skin and soft tissue infections due to MRSA has more recently declined, according to a study in the July 4 issue of JAMA.
A team of UK and US researchers have found that it is possible to halve the number of treatments by giving higher doses of radiotherapy at each visit with results, after 10 years, at least as good as standard methods.
Early results from a trial testing a 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine in children look promising, according to the trial sponsor, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health.
