A new study reporting an association between ChemoFx Drug Response Marker results and recurrence free survival (RFS) of cervical cancer patients was presented at the 14th Biennial Meeting of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS), held in Vancouver October 13-16, 2012.
A new study suggests that differences in the expression of gene transcripts - readouts copied from DNA that help maintain and build our cells - may hold the key to understanding how mental disorders with shared genetic risk factors result in different patterns of onset, symptoms, course of illness, and treatment responses
In light of conflicting and inconclusive clinical data on the benefit of radiation therapy in cancer patients with the BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation, a clinical review examined the current status of data regarding BRCA1 and BRCA2 deficiency and radiation therapy sensitivity and a potential strategy to intensify the effects of radiation therapy (RT) by poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi), the pharmacologic drugs under investigation as monotherapy for the treatment of breast cancer in patients with BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations.
Vaping or e-cigarette use has been linked to the emergence of a severe lung disease that has affected more than 800 people across the United States, with 12 reported deaths. The largest users of vapes or e-cigarettes are among teens and young adults. A new study points out that schools play a major role in the sudden surge of e-cigarette use among teens.
The New York Times profiles the challenges that one business owner faced with the health law. Other outlets offer news on the law, including the problems the administration faces in setting up the online marketplaces, concerns about scams targeting consumers and help for Medicare beneficiaries.
