Researchers from North Carolina State University have developed a new, stretchable antenna that can be incorporated into wearable technologies, such as health monitoring devices.
More than one-third of Americans who undergo procedures involving anesthesia now have them outside of the operating room (O.R.), an increase of 27 percent in five years, according to an analysis of a large registry being presented at the ANESTHESIOLOGY 2016 annual meeting.
The Image Gently Alliance, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Emergency Physicians, AANS/CNS Joint Section on Pediatric Neurosurgery and allied medical organizations have launched the "Think A-Head" campaign to help providers appropriately obtain and perform computed tomography (CT) scans in children with minor head injuries.
In adults, some brain regions retain a "childlike" ability to establish new connections, potentially contributing to our ability to learn new skills and form new memories as we age, according to new research from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and the Allen Institute for Brain Science in Seattle.
Radiological examinations, such as chest x-rays and CT scans, confer a definite (albeit low) long term risk of cancer, but patients undergoing such examinations often receive no or inaccurate information about theses risks.
