Optimer prices underwritten public offering of common stock

Optimer Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced the pricing of a previously announced underwritten public offering of 6,000,000 shares of its common stock, offered at a price to the public of $11.25 per share. The gross proceeds to Optimer from this offering are expected to be $67.5 million, before deducting the underwriting discounts and commissions and other estimated offering expenses payable by Optimer.

Researchers investigate impact of fungal toxin on birth defects

A Creighton University School of Medicine researcher has been awarded a $2.7 million grant by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to investigate a possible link between the ingestion of tortillas and corn-based food products contaminated with a fungal toxin and increased risk for birth defects.
