Exelixis announces preliminary results from BRIM7 Phase Ib trial on BRAFV600 mutated MM

Exelixis, Inc. today announced preliminary results from BRIM7, an ongoing Phase Ib trial conducted by Roche and Genentech, Exelixis' collaborator and a member of the Roche Group, of the BRAF inhibitor (BRAFi) vemurafenib in combination with the MEK inhibitor GDC-0973 in patients with locally advanced/unresectable or metastatic melanoma carrying a BRAFV600 mutation.

Children with Wilms tumour can now be given less intensive chemotherapy

CHILDREN with a rare type of cancer called Wilms' tumour who are at low risk of relapsing can now be given less intensive treatment, avoiding a type of chemotherapy that can cause irreversible heart problems in later life.

FDA assigns Priority Review designation to JRD's XARELTO sNDA

Janssen Research & Development, LLC (JRD) announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has assigned a Priority Review designation to the supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) filed on December 29, 2011 for XARELTO (rivaroxaban), an oral anticoagulant, to reduce the risk of thrombotic cardiovascular events in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).
