Scarce resources threatening progress against AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa

Aerocrine AB today announced that it has acquired all business assets and intellectual property assets from the bankruptcy estate of Apieron Inc. As a result, Apieron's litigation against Aerocrine in the U.S. and Germany will be terminated and dismissed. Aerocrine's patent infringement claims in the U.S. against Apieron's estate will not be dismissed, however.

Telephone intervention improves medication adherence in patients with glaucoma

A telephone intervention trial was associated with improvement in glaucoma medication adherence in both the treatment group and the control group but, when the two groups were compared, interactive telephone calls and tailored print materials did not significantly improve adherence, according to a report of a randomized controlled clinical trial published Online First by Archives of Ophthalmology, a JAMA Network publication.
