ASA concerned over non-availability of sodium thiopental

The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and its members are extremely troubled to learn that the anesthetic drug, sodium thiopental (Pentothal®), will no longer be available to patients in the U.S. or any other country due to the unfortunate circumstances in Italy that led the sole manufacturer, Hospira, to cease production of the drug.

Expert says billions of dollars wasted on 'quack' health food products

According to Professor Michael Lean from the University of Glasgow, globally every year, obese people waste billions of pounds on food products that 'imply' that they aid weight loss, which are actually totally ineffective.

Study finds big range in state workers' health costs

A first-of-its-kind study by two charitable organizations found that states paid nearly $31 billion on employee insurance last year - making it the second largest category of state health care spending after Medicaid. But the costs borne by state workers varied widely.
