Providence receives U.S. patent for CPMMS

Providence today announces the receipt of a United States Patent for the Comprehensive Particulate Matter Measurement System (CPMMS) and the Methodology for its Use. Yousheng Zeng, PhD, PE, a principal of Providence, is the inventor of this system. Dr. Zeng explains, "Unlike current methods of monitoring air-borne particulate matter (PM), the CPMMS monitors the portion of PM that can reach and deposit in a human respiratory system."

Menopausal hormone therapy reduces abdominal fat tissue in women

Women who undergo hormone therapy to relieve menopausal symptoms tend to have less fat tissue, particularly in the abdomen, than other menopausal women, according to a new study published in the Endocrine Society's Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.

For the first time the functions of natural killer cells in the womb have been identified. Researchers at the University of Warwick and University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust have discovered the role that they play in preparing the womb for pregnancy.
