Naldemedine meets primary and secondary endpoints in phase III study for OIC treatment

Naldemedine, an investigational peripherally acting mu-opioid receptor antagonist (PAMORA) under development by Shionogi & Co., Ltd., met its primary and secondary endpoints in a phase III study (COMPOSE I) for the treatment of opioid-induced constipation (OIC) in adult patients with chronic non-cancer pain receiving opioid therapy.

Gene editing within a living person for the first time

Genetic editing has been performed in the laboratory until now. Living cells within Petri-dishes have been put under the microscope while gene editing tools such as CRISPR were used to cut, nick and replace parts of the DNA or genome that is defective with bits of DNA that is correct in its sequence. Study reports identification of IDH1 protein as novel biomarker for diagnosis of NSCLC

A protein called isocitrate dehydrogenase is present at high levels in lung cancers and can be detected in the blood, making it a noninvasive diagnostic marker for lung cancers, according to a study published in Clinical Cancer Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.
