Welchol plus metformin combination therapy reduces A1C, LDL-C levels in type 2 diabetes patients

Results of a new study demonstrated that initial combination therapy with Welchol® (colesevelam HCl) 3.75 g/d and metformin (initiated at 850 mg/d; uptitrated to 1700 mg/d thereafter) significantly improved glycemic and lipid control in drug-naive adult type 2 diabetes patients with high LDL cholesterol (LDL-C).

European scientists set up new therapeutic approaches to tackle gene defects

Fibrocell Science completes enrollment in azficel-T histology study

Fibrocell Science, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on the development of autologous cell therapies for aesthetic, medical and scientific applications, announced today the completion of enrollment of and first treatment visits for participants in its histology study (IT-H-001) of azficel-T. An autologous cell therapy, azficel-T is currently under review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of moderate to severe nasolabial fold wrinkles.

New data from efficacy study of CIMZIA in Crohn's disease patients presented

New data from an open-label extension study evaluating the long-term safety and efficacy of CIMZIA® (certolizumab pegol) in moderate to severe Crohn's disease patients demonstrate that 82 percent of patients actively treated with CIMZIA - the only PEGylated anti-TNF-alpha (Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha) - remained in long-term remission without dose escalation up to 3.5 years.
