Genetic lab test for Warfarin sensitivity approved by FDA

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today cleared for marketing a new genetic test that will help physicians assess whether a patient may be especially sensitive to the blood-thinning drug warfarin (Coumadin), which is used to prevent potentially fatal clots in blood vessels.

New RHUCIN study data in acute HAE attacks presented at 7th C1 Inhibitor Deficiency Workshop

Santarus, Inc., a specialty biopharmaceutical company, today announced that new data from open-label studies evaluating the efficacy and safety of the investigational drug RHUCIN for the treatment of acute attacks of angioedema in patients with Hereditary Angioedema were presented at the 7th C1 Inhibitor Deficiency Workshop on May 20 - 22, 2011 in Budapest, Hungary.

St. Louis Beacon: Nixon Says Tax Cut Bill Removes Missouri's Sales Tax Break For Prescription Drugs. Gov. Jay Nixon has upped the ante in his criticism of a broad-based tax cut bill awaiting his decision, saying Thursday that it removes a sales tax exemption for prescription drugs that will raise taxes for millions of Missourians. One sponsor of the bill says there's plenty of time for the legislature to correct what he deemed a drafting error (Rosenbaum, 5/30).
