The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine-a nonprofit with more than 175,000 members including doctors, scientists, and laypeople-has launched a new effort today to encourage people to become organ and tissue donors to help scientists save human lives and reduce and replace animal experiments.
Elekta, a human care company pioneering significant innovations and clinical solutions for treating cancer and brain disorders, will integrate cancer workflow and patient management tools into the Proteus TK2, a turnkey proton therapy center from Belgium-based Ion Beam Applications.
The fingers on the outside - i.e. the thumb and little finger - therefore react faster than the middle finger, which is exposed to the "cross fire" of two neighbours on each side. Through targeted learning, this speed handicap can be compensated. The working group led by PD Dr. Hubert Dinse (Neural Plasticity Lab at the Institute for Neuroral Computation) report in the current issue of PNAS.
A team of scientists in Australia has recently investigated the health condition of Australian citizens who lost jobs during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The study findings reveal that job loss is associated with a deterioration in mental health but an improvement in physical health. Importantly, retaining employment has shown a positive impact on the overall mental health condition.
