Among various genetic mutations for individuals with Lynch syndrome, a hereditary cancer syndrome that carries a high risk of colon cancer and an above-normal risk of other cancers, researchers have identified mutations associated with a lower cancer risk and mutations associated with an increased risk for ovarian and endometrial cancer, according to a study in the June 8 issue of JAMA, a theme issue on cancer.
A number of government leaders made statements on Thursday in recognition of World AIDS Day. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a press statement said, "We have come a long way in the fight against AIDS, but there is still a long road ahead to realize our ambitious goals.
There is only scant scientific evidence available on whether the genetic risk for developing specific psychiatric disorders or cognitive traits is manifest in brain structure from childhood and, to date, studies have focused primarily on adult populations. The question remains unanswered.
This is shown in research from the Sahlgrenska Academy at University of Gothenburg in Sweden.
PharMerica Corporation, a national provider of institutional pharmacy and hospital pharmacy management services, today announced that its Board of Directors has authorized an increase in its existing share purchase program that will allow the Company to purchase up to $25 million of its common stock in the open market through unsolicited or solicited privately negotiated transactions, or in such other appropriate manner, and will be funded from available cash.
