This year, results have been published of two significant research studies about molecules that could potentially treat Alzheimer's disease.
Savient Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved KRYSTEXXA™ (pegloticase), a PEGylated uric acid specific enzyme indicated for the treatment of chronic gout in adult patients refractory to conventional therapy. Chronic gout that is refractory to conventional therapy occurs in patients who have failed to normalize serum uric acid and whose signs and symptoms are inadequately controlled with xanthine oxidase inhibitors at the maximum medically appropriate dose or for whom these drugs are contraindicated.
When dining out, 65 percent of Americans prefer to see nutritional information on a restaurant menu over calories alone. As several cities around the country adapt to menu-labeling mandates that require restaurants to post calorie-counts on their menu, it is yet to be determined if it will have the desired impact on consumer behavior and therefore overall public health.
Parents want to make sure their children are getting the nutrients they need to grow and thrive but sometimes it's easier said than done. According to a recent Leger Marketing survey of Canadians parents with children between the ages of three to 12 conducted on behalf of Jamieson Laboratories, almost sixty per cent of parents say their children are picky eaters with the same percentage of parents concerned their children aren't getting the proper nutrients they need for growth and development.(1)
