The goal of finding a treatment for concussion may be one step closer due to a new study being launched by University of Miami researchers.
A team of Stanford researchers has developed a protein therapy that disrupts the process that causes cancer cells to break away from original tumor sites, travel through the blood stream and start aggressive new growths elsewhere in the body.
Lantheus Medical Imaging, Inc., a worldwide leader in diagnostic imaging, today announced that it has received additional supply of molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) to produce vital medical isotopes for its TechneLite® (Technetium Tc99m Generator) generators as the result of a recent agreement between the Institute for Radioelements (IRE), Fleurus, Belgium, and the Nuclear Research Institute (NRI), Rez, Czech Republic.
Scientists at Forsyth, along with a colleague from Northwestern University, have discovered that the protein, Transgultaminase 2 (TG2), is a key component in the process of gum disease. TG2 is widely distributed inside and outside of human cells. The scientists found that blocking some associations of TG2 prevents the bacteria Porphyromonas gingivalis (PG) from adhering to cells. This insight may one day help lead to novel therapies to prevent gum disease caused by PG.
