Costs and risk of death after coronary procedures differed for veterans who underwent coronary procedures at non-VA hospitals.
Fitch Ratings has assigned an 'AA' to Partners HealthCare System's approximately $475 million Massachusetts Health and Educational Facilities Authority revenue bonds (Partners HealthCare System), fixed-rate revenue bonds, series 2009J, which are expected to be sold as two sub series. Fitch also affirms its 'AA' long-term rating on all of Partners' outstanding debt and affirms its 'F1+' rating on approximately $485 million of Partners HealthCare System's debt that is backed by self-liquidity.
Biomarkers, which allow diseases to be diagnosed and staged based on relatively non-invasive blood tests, have been identified for several types of cancers, but for most cancers remain elusive. Now, research conducted at the RIKEN Center for Life Science Technologies in Japan and the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research in Australia has identified a large number of genes that are upregulated in many different types of cancer, opening the door for developing biomarker tests that could be used to detect cancers early, allowing for prompt treatment.
Scientists from Imperial College London and Pfizer have developed a new method that could predict individual patient responses to drug treatments. The authors anticipate that the development will advance biomedical research further towards development of personalised medicines.
