Trudeau Institute to receive sub-contract for translational research grant from NIH

The Trudeau Institute has announced it is the recipient of a sub-contract for a translational research grant from the National Institutes of Health.

The Guardian examines efforts to reduce malaria in Katine, Uganda, through the distribution of insecticide-treated nets to high-risk groups. Though the article details a reduction in the number of malaria cases in the region, additional nets are needed to cover the entire population. Also, health experts warn additional strategies, such as indoor residual spraying and increased access to drugs are needed to defeat malaria (Kavuma, 10/8).

Mothers of children with autism have many significantly different metabolite levels, study finds

Now, a study by researchers at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Arizona State University, and the Mayo Clinic found that mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder had several marked different metabolite levels two to five years after they gave birth compared to mothers of normally developing children.
