UK receives $8.8 million to support addiction treatment for women in criminal justice settings

The University of Kentucky recently received an $8.8 million grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, part of the National Institutes of Health, to establish a Clinical Research Center as part of the Justice Community Opioid Innovation Network to support research on quality addiction treatment for opioid use disorder in criminal justice settings nationwide.

Insurers that contract with the state to manage the care of low-income Medicaid patients are expected to save money, in part by negotiating lower prices with health providers.
