Health Integrated, a leader in precision care management solutions, released the results today of an annual health plan survey jointly commissioned with the Association for Community Affiliated Plans, a national trade association representing nonprofit safety net health plans.
The Guardian examines the HIV epidemic in Swaziland, writing, "While neighboring countries have made inroads against the disease, the mountain kingdom of one million people continues to suffer setbacks, partly due to cultural norms around sexuality being exacerbated by a financial crisis." According to the news service, Swaziland has "the highest HIV rate in the world, with more than one in four adults estimated to be carrying the virus."
The blood of young and old people differs. In an article published recently in the scientific journal Blood, a research group at Lund University in Sweden explain how they have succeeded in rejuvenating the blood of mice by reversing, or re-programming, the stem cells that produce blood.
Two papers setting out recommendations for the reporting of epidemiological research are published in this week's PLoS Medicine, along with several other journals.
