The Hong Kong government has confirmed another wild bird has been found to have died from bird flu.
Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Abbott today announced positive top-line data from a 48-week phase 3 long-term safety and efficacy clinical trial of lubiprostone in Japanese patients with chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC). The trial demonstrated that lubiprostone was safe and well-tolerated.
A team of researchers led by Dr. Dennis Kappei, a Special Fellow from the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore at the National University of Singapore, has discovered the role of the protein ZBTB48 in regulating both telomeres and mitochondria, which are key players involved in cellular aging.
A study by Mayo Clinic researchers published in Kidney International Reports finds that immune checkpoint inhibitors, may have negative consequences in some patients, including acute kidney inflammation, known as interstitial nephritis. Immune checkpoint inhibitors are used to treat cancer by stimulating the immune system to attack cancerous cells.
Penn State College of Medicine was awarded nearly $14 million in funding from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute to study the effectiveness of a program integrating strength training, balance exercises and walking for older adults who have had a fall-related fracture.
