A Web-based application developed by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) will form the basis of the nation's first Defense Department-wide system to track and manage human subject studies funded by the federal government, officials announced Aug. 6.
Anacor Pharmaceuticals today announced positive clinical trial results for its lead phosphodiesterase-4 inhibitor, AN2728, a novel topical anti-inflammatory compound derived from Anacor's boron chemistry platform. These results were obtained from a multi-center, Phase 2b, randomized, double-blind, dose-ranging, bilateral trial comparing AN2728 ointment, 0.5% and 2.0%, applied once or twice daily, to vehicle in 145 patients with mild-to-moderate plaque-type psoriasis.
Expanding health centers to reach an additional 20 million patients as part of national health reform would result in overall health care savings of $212 billion over the ten-year period 2010 to 2019, including federal Medicaid savings of $59 billion.
A Wayne State University researcher has received a combined $36,000 in grants from the Southeastern Michigan Health Association and Greater Cincinnati HealthBridge, Inc. to help determine the success of a Type 2 diabetes intervention program currently being piloted in southeast Michigan, greater Cincinnati and New Orleans.
