OBN and EMIG - organisations with a combined membership of approximately 570 emerging R&D companies in biotechnology and medical technology, and established small and mid-sized biopharmaceutical firms, respectively - have called on the UK government to allocate additional funding to support the industrial component of Innovate UK's Biomedical Catalyst (BMC).
Although embolization has been used for over 20 years to treat trauma victims with massive bleeding and to control hemorrhage after childbirth instead of emergency hysterectomy, the investigation of glue as an embolic agent is new.

In a study to be published in the April, 2006 issue of the British Journal of Urology International, researchers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center have shown that Raloxifene, a drug commonly used to treat osteoporosis, has a potential clinical benefit in treating men with prostate cancer.
