In its latest blow to obesity medication development efforts, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday notified Orexigen Therapeutics that it would need to conduct an extremely large-scale study of the long-term cardiovascular effects of its drug, Contrave, before approval could be considered.
A new species of bacterium that causes leprosy has been identified through intensive genetic analysis of a pair of lethal infections, a research team reports in the December issue of the American Journal of Clinical Pathology.
GenoMed, Inc., a Next Generation Disease Managementâ„¢ company that uses its expertise in genes to improve patient outcomes, said today that it has hired three additional full-time employees: a Chief Financial Officer, a Vice President for Marketing, and a Chief Technical Officer.
"Pakistan is set to become the first country in south Asia to introduce the pneumococcal vaccine to protect children against pneumonia, one of the biggest killers of children under five in the developing world," the Guardian reports.
