Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire (D) on Monday testified before state Senate and House health committees, urging lawmakers to support two bills (SB 5930 and HB 2098) that aim to offer universal health coverage to all state residents within five years.
LifeCodexx AG today reports the successful outcome of a proof-of-principle of its novel assay for non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT assay) based on quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR). This NIPT assay, designed to determine fetal aneuploidies from maternal blood, will offer significant advantages, such as enhanced test performance at affordable prices, over other prenatal examination methods.
Each year, more than one million Americans are diagnosed with adult-onset diabetes mellitus, also known as type 2 diabetes. The new diagnosis comes with a long list of potential complications: high blood pressure, nerve damage, kidney disease, stroke, glaucoma and more.
An $18 million research program headed by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis will research therapies and diagnostic tools for heart and lung diseases that use nanotechnology.
Asante Solutions, Inc., a medical device company focused on diabetes care, announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted 510(k) clearance for the company's Pearl Insulin Pump. Last month, the Pearl also received the CE Mark, a European proof of conformity that certifies the product meets EU safety, health and environmental requirements.
