Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. (DSI) announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the supplemental new drug application (sNDA) for Welchol® (colesevelam HCl) to be used as an adjunct to diet and exercise for the reduction of elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in boys and postmenarchal girls, 10 to 17 years of age, with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (heFH) alone or in combination with a statin after failing an adequate trial of diet therapy.
Bioject Medical Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:BJCT), a leading developer of needle-free injection therapy systems, today announced that it has established a strategic alliance with MPI Research, a leading pre-clinical research organization with experience in the development of injectable therapeutics.
Researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham are developing and testing a new peptide that they hope will lead to better treatment options for familial hypercholesterolemia.
A study by six researchers, including a University of Colorado at Boulder associate professor and his former doctoral student, shows that amputees who use running-specific prosthetic legs have no performance advantage over counterparts who use their biological legs.
