Celgene Corporation today announced that the company's Board of Directors has authorized the repurchase of up to an additional $1 billion of the Company's common stock through December 2012.
Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D, RI) and Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D, TX) have taken the lead in urging their fellow members of Congress and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to require patient quality improvements as a prerequisite to obtaining federal electronic health record (EHR) stimulus funds.
When Medicare policy changes led to reductions in reimbursement for hormonal treatment of prostate cancer, there was a sharp decline in its use among patients not likely to benefit from the treatment. But among patients for whom the therapy is clearly beneficial, doctors continued to prescribe it at the same rate, according to a new study.
Researchers have long known of the brain's ability to learn based on visual motion input, and a recent study has uncovered more insight into where the learning occurs. The brain first perceives changes in visual input (local motion) in the primary visual cortex. The local motion signals are then integrated in the later visual processing stages and interpreted as global motion in the higher-level processes.
