A shocking new study led by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health reveals that by 2030, just a decade away, almost half of all Americans will be suffering from obesity – making this the biggest epidemic ever in history. Medical Air Technology (MAT) recently completed a project at the prestigious Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), increasing laboratory capacity to accommodate a new machine for counting and profiling cells. Founded in 1898, LSTM is the oldest School in Tropical Medicine in the world, and recognised globally for its groundbreaking research into infectious, debilitating and disabling diseases.
A microfluidic device developed at Massachusetts General Hospital may help study key steps in the process by which cancer cells break off from a primary tumor to invade other tissues and form metastases.
In an effort to determine if stem cell therapy can prevent or improve a condition called "diabetic foot" caused by poor blood flow in patients with diabetes, a team of researchers in China has found that transplanting human placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into rats modeled with diabetes can affect blood vessel growth, potentially improving blood flow and preventing critical limb ischemia (CLI), a condition that results in diabetic foot and frequently leads to amputation.
EarlySense, which is currently bringing to market the most advanced, contact-free, patient monitoring solution for hospitals and nursing homes, announced today that it has received FDA clearance and CE approval for the new wireless (WiFi) communications component of its solution.
