U.S. researchers have discovered that as well as being healthy food, broccoli also helps skin cells fight off damage caused by harmful ultraviolet radiation.
Using the example of the fruit fly, a team of biologists led by Prof. Dr. Andrew Straw has identified patterns in the genetic activity of brain cells and taken them as a basis for drawing conclusions about the structure of the brain.
At 57, Bill Nissley he still leads an active life - traveling, teaching tennis to budding young players, conversing in five languages with whomever he can find. But Nissley is growing older, and that in itself is astounding. The Santa Monica resident has coexisted with human immunodeficiency virus since testing positive in 1987, which led to him contracting acquired immune deficiency syndrome in 1998.
On Monday, November 2, 2009, Andrea Natale, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.H.R.S., an electrophysiologist and executive medical director of the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute at St. David's Medical Center, will be the first physician in the United States to perform an ablation procedure to treat a patient with a cardiac arrhythmia, commonly known as an irregular heart rhythm, using the newly FDA-cleared CARTO® 3 Navigation System.
