African American women respond differently to the anti-inflammatory effect of aspirin than do white American women, new research finds.
Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine have begun testing a vaccine that might be able to prevent colon cancer in people at high risk for developing the disease.
Cerulean Pharma Inc., a leader in designing and developing nanopharmaceuticals, today announced that results of a Phase 1 clinical study of CRLX101 (formerly IT-101), Cerulean's lead clinical development candidate, and pre-clinical data on Cerulean's development candidate, CRLX288, were presented at the American Chemical Society National Meeting & Exposition, ongoing in Boston, Massachusetts.
Among men with prostate cancer who received care from the Veterans Affairs (VA) Health System, an equal-access health care system, African American men did not have more advanced disease at the time of diagnosis or die earlier than white men, unlike trends seen in the greater U.S. population of patients with prostate cancer.
Taking aspirin immediately after experiencing stroke-like symptoms could significantly reduce the risk of a major stroke occurring in the next few days, according to a study published in The Lancet.
