A new study from örebro University, published in Science Signaling today, shows that heart medication reduces the build-up of plaque in the brain's blood vessels in mice. The question is if this is true also in humans? If the answer is yes, it might bring scientists a step closer to developing a medicine against Alzheimer's disease.
In March 2013, Eric Wagner told his wife to call 9-1-1 because he was feeling the worst that he had ever felt. He was rushed by EMS to University Hospitals (UH) Ahuja Medical Center, and then airlifted to UH Case Medical Center, where brain scans showed that he had a ruptured aneurysm, a leaking blister on a blood vessel that was letting blood flow into his brain and causing a stroke.
United Therapeutics Corporation announced today the completion of its FREEDOM-M Phase 3 trial of treprostinil diethanolamine, an investigational sustained release oral formulation of treprostinil, a stable synthetic form of prostacyclin, in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).
Pre-registration nursing students underwent a simulated exercise in health needs analysis and commissioning of services. Service commissioners consistently request presentation for re-tendering of services so the students had to pitch ideas along the lines of the 'Dragons' Den' television programme.
U.S. foreign policy should should rely more on diplomacy and "soft power," Admiral Mike Mullen, chair of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in a speech at Kansas State University on Wednesday, Agence France-Presse reports. "U.S. foreign policy is still too dominated by the military - too dependent upon the generals and admirals who lead our major overseas commands and not enough on the State Department," Mullen said, the AFP reports.
