Chemistry and biology researchers at Virginia Tech have enhanced the abilities of the molecules they are creating to deliver killing blows to cancer cells. The man-made molecular complexes enter cancer cells and, when signaled, deliver killing medicine or cause the cell to change.
Gender-sensitized lifestyle programs delivered in professional football clubs have shown promise in increasing physical activity in Europe and could play an important public health role in engaging underserved men, according to a study published February 5 in the open-access journal PLOS Medicine by Sally Wyke of the University of Glasgow, and colleagues.
The Kaiser Permanente Southern California Department of Research & Evaluation has been awarded more than $3 million from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to continue the SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth Study for an additional five years to 2015.
